GFR11 | Meet the designers – SarahTheRed Aurbierre, designer of Vanitas Vesture

Posted by admin - April 6, 2011 - Announcement, Fashion Designer - No Comments

When did you join SL and why?
I joined SL in the spring of 2008.  I discovered it by accident – while searching for pin-up hairstyles online, I found the Ingenue store blog, by Betty Doyle. Shortly after, I saw Second Life® mentioned in a few other places – magazines, TV tie-ins, etc. – and decided to check it out.

How did you get into content creation for SL residents?
Again, I started making clothes in SL by accident. For my final project for a graphic design class, I’d submitted two proposals: create a website, or start an SL clothing shop. I fully expected the professor to choose the website; he suprised me and chose the SL project. Since then, I’ve been hooked. I really enjoy the creative process of fashion design, and bringing those creations to life in-world.

How would you describe your shop?
Vanitas Vesture is a small design shop specializing in feminine clothing, with a modern take on classic style.

Front Row is an event supporting Relay For Life® of SL. Why does it matter for you to participate?
I support Relay for Life because it matters. I’ve lost several family members to cancer. I have friends who are survivors. I’d want to participate and support the American Cancer Society regardless, but it’s personal, too.

What would you like to say to those who are discovering you through this interview?
Yay! I’m flattered by your interest!

What projects do you have lined up for the near future?
I’m always working on what I call everyday clothes – things I like to wear on an ordinary day. I also have a few mini-collections that are in the works: a sort of fairy/fantasy series, and a group of evening dresses.
